Mila
From SFWiki
Mila is the name of a former city-state located in Cisalpina. Until 1022 PR, it was a thriving port city, doing business with the entire Terracopian archipelago, and, as the first member of the Mila Compact, it was one of the most important of the Free Cities. However, it was overrun in 1022 PR by Daemonic forces from the Cisalpine Blight.
Mila was a great city, but is now a battlefield. The city itself was destroyed in the Striking of Mila, where the Blight overran the city and razed it completely to the ground. However, the natural harbor makes it an ideal staging ground for the Council of Generals, based out of Verona, and the Visby Command, based out of Visby.
Between the discovery of the Blight and the Striking, many people who thought the Blight could be turned to their advantage moved there, and the city was thriving. The Medicia quietly pulled out of the city, and rent prices in the city rose significantly. Then came the Striking.
In one night, the city was leveled by blood dragons from the Blight, and a massive swarm of Bone Hounds killed almost everybody in the city. The only people to escape the slaughter were a ship of Medicia observers, passing through the city to trade. They relayed the events to the fellow Medicia, coincidentially during the Grand Conference of the Family.
The Medicia let this be known immediately, and the international summit that would lead to the Longbow Accords was convened. Meanwhile, the Newland Principalities started sending troops in to first survey the damage, then to try to fight back. Most of them were annihilated.
Since then, due to the natural harbor that made it such an effective trade city, it has been the landing point for the forces both of the Council of Generals and the Visby Command, and it is a burned and bloody battlefield.
