Neulander Mercenaries

The formation of several Neulander Mercenary companies is a recent event development, with the first one, the Hammers of Karlston being formed in 852 PR. This was in time for the Fourth Elvish War, a happy coincidence for the group who saw their numbers increase greatly with willing recruits. This willingness to fight was due to the realization that they would otherwise be levied by the various lords of their lands, so why not earn copper for fighting?

In general the Neulander Mercenaries use massive formations of steam throwers, with further ranks of pikemen and melee weapons behind. They fight in a box formation, with the steamweapons firing until the enemy closes and the pikes advancing to blunt the inevitable cavalry charge.
