Magick is the technical term for sorcerous power and might. All magick is essentially the same thing, though every magickal effect (such as a spell) draws its energy from one of five power sources (called Schools). Classically, there were only four schools known and taught. Only in recent years was a fifth school, Blood Magick, discovered.

Every magickal effect is tied to a school, though every school is capable of each effect. For example, a spell which causes a ball of fire to burst over an area may be tied to the school of Bone. However, a spell with an identical effect may also be tied to the school of Breath. A spell's school describes where and how the spell derives its energy. Some schools are better suited for certain effects, however (for example, a healing spell may be more powerful as Breath magick than as Sun magick).

A sorcerer may always cast spells tied to schools he or she is unfamiliar with. However, doing so is done at an impressively increased Mana cost.

[edit] Schools

The five schools of magick are often referred to as the "Five Fingers." Typically, a sorcerer will specialize in only one or two of the schools; thaumaturgists who have studied all five are known as "fists" (they are also usually called "corrupt", as such close association with Blood Magick will induce Corruption).

The five schools are:

[edit] Breath

The school of Breath is a versatile, powerful school. It is heavily tied to life magicks, and many of its spells are tied to healing.

[edit] Bone

The school of Bone is a harsh, heavy school. Its spells tend to be more "earthy" in nature.

[edit] Blood

Blood Magick is magick that is innate to the Corruption and Daemonkind. Blood Magick is especially powerful at inflicting injury on living beings.

The use of Blood Magick always inflicts Corruption.

[edit] Sun

Sun Magick is sorcery that is powered by truth. Sun spells are especially good at divination.

[edit] Moon

The school of Moon Magick draws its power from the innate concepts of night and darkness as well as stealth and deception. It is closely tied with summoning magicks.
