The First Elvish War (-56 PR to -50 PR) was a war of aggression by the Elven Kingdom of Atlantis against the combined forces of the continent that would become Terracopia (specifically, the Empire Romae and the Kingdom of Macedonia).

The war was a religious war, and started due to the Elven belief in species superiority and supremacy. For decades prior to the start of the war, the Elven people had been whipped into a state of religious hysteria and intolerance by the Elven high priests of the Cult of Haephus. They had came to believe that the growing non-elf presence throughout the world would eventually choke them out, and a translation of several passages from their holy book, Q'Xial, lent prophetic credence to this idea.

The elves met for many weeks, arguing what to do about their perceived impending doom. At the end of the discussions, only one option was left: to extinguish or enslave all non-elves. So they began preparations for war that lasted several years, building ships and developing powerful magicks. In -56 PR, they invaded the Kingdom of Andalusia and the island of Corsica, and from there began a slow march across the world.

At first, the Elven onslaught was extremely successful. They caught many territories off guard, and the Empire Romae attempted to open diplomatic relations. However, these attempts were rebuffed, and the non-elves went to war.

What followed was a long and bloody conflict. In -55 PR, however, the tide of the battle was turned, and the elves were forced to retreat to Atlantis. The combined navies of the Empire Romae, the Kingdom of Macedonia, and the remnants of the Andalusian navy followed, and the war was taken to elven shores.

Several elven towns were burnt to the ground and the allied forces surrounded the city of Atlantis and laid siege to it for 6 months. After this time, the Eleven Kingdom sued for peace.

In -56 PR the Treaty of Atlantis was signed, which declared that the Elves would not make war upon the rest of the world for five hundred years (a treaty which was technically kept, as the Second Elvish War was started by human forces).
