Dragons are extremely rare, non-humanoid creatures native to all islands within Terracopia. They have no preferential terrains, save that they tend to live in remote areas, away from civilization.

Dragons are said to be the oldest of the intelligent creatures, created by Haephus before the humanoid species. They are immense, powerful, and terrible creatures and live for hundreds (perhaps thousands) of years. They are solitary by nature, exceptionally violent, and perhaps the most powerful and terrifying creatures in all of Terracopia.

[edit] Physiology

Dragons are large, scaled, bipedal creatures with immense, bat-like wings. They have long, powerful tails that sometimes end in poisonous barbs. They have long snouts with armored beaks and a mouth full of sharp, needle-like teeth. They have extremely sharp claws on their powerful forelegs, which are capable of being used as hands (and often are). The scales of a dragon are extremely hard, serving as an armor that is capable of deflecting all but the most powerful of attacks.

Their eyes are slitted and yellow, with a series of four nictitating membranes (one of which is nearly transparent, allowing for flight without eye damage). Dragons have excellent night vision and are able to see heat signatures.

They have keen hearing and smell senses, able to detect prey even when invisible. However, they have poor senses of taste and touch.

Dragons are extremely intelligent. As a result, they have a unique, powerful grasp of magick. Despite this intelligence, dragons are psychologically vulnerable to a peculiar form of bloodlust.

Dragons are asexual. From time to time a dragon will lay a clutch of eggs between 10 and 30 in number, of which perhaps half will hatch. Of those, only half again will survive the first year, and it is a rare event that even one hatchling will age to adulthood.

Dragons have a natural resistance to Corruption.

[edit] Ecology

Dragons are a purely carnivorous species. They will eat any animal or creature that they can kill - including other dragons.

Dragons do not normally consume carrion; doing so is often a sign that the dragon is physical ill.

[edit] Society

Dragons are solitary creatures and do not form societies. In fact, two dragons who cross paths are likely to attempt to kill one another.

From birth, dragons hatchlings are raised by their fathers and then forced out of the "nest" after a year.

Despite their asocial tendencies, most dragons are well-informed about history and spend a great deal of time observing the world through powerful divination spells.

[edit] Religion

Dragons have no known religion.

[edit] Technology

Dragons do not utilize technology.

[edit] Sorcery

Dragons are exceptionally powerful sorcerers and are perhaps the best known practitioners of magick in existence.
